Lost

It is pretty astounding how bad my sense of direction is.

I hold a map in hand, look up at the street sign, find the street on the map, find my next location, and walk in the completely opposite direction.

300m later, I realise I'm going in the completely opposite direction, make a U-turn back to the same spot, walk to the next street to get my bearings right on the map, and end up walking in the wrong direction again.

It took me about 2 hours to find the shopping mall I wanted to visit, but hey, Mongkok is incredibly confusing. Everywhere seems near, yet far, or far, yet near. Like, I hopped on the MTR and went 2 or 3 stops to Tsim Sha Tsui from Mongkok, and I come out, and it's still Nathan Road which the Mongkok station is at?

Don't say Hong Kong lah. Singapore also I can get lost. Sorry to say, Banana, but your GPS seems a little wonky. So I memorised the route from my office to my customer's office which I've been to at least 20 times. So easy ah, AYE-CTE-Exit Moulmein-Balestier Road-Lavender Road. But no, I ended up at Newton. Then got lost at Serangoon. Then ended up at Bugis, then went to Victoria Street. Finally gave up and called the customer for directions.

Then that day, from Kembangan to my home. Ended up at Changi, Geylang Serai, went down the whole of Geylang, Dhoby Ghaut, then dunno where, then finally Holland Road.

Aiya. So stupiak.

Sylvester Doesn’t Sing On Thursdays

A bunch of ah beng ah lian friends and I decided to head to a particular bar on the 70th floor of a hotel in the city for drinks. We went in and let's just say we realised immediately that it's not the sort of place where the patrons would appreciate our loud hokkien expletives as we played five ten.

After sitting down for 10 minutes, we decided to head to Dragonfly where we ordered two shuttles of Tiger beer and fired Hokkien expletives as loudly as we wanted.

Ah, home sweet home.

Kay Kiang Means…

.. bitching to your boss about your company's choice of "family outing day" until the boss volunteers you to be part of the committee.

Great. Just great.

Love In All Its Glory

I'm going to hit 30 in about 2 months and the definition of love still eludes me.

Does it mean sticking it out for better or for worse?

How do you know if you've made the right choice? How do you know if you've made the wrong choice?

What if your mind tells you it's the wrong choice, but your heart says otherwise, and vice versa? Which do you listen to?

The scary thing is, there are no right or wrong answers. You make a choice, commit to it and pray that you made the right choice.

I just try to live my life with as few regrets as possible but sometimes even that's not possible.

What’s The Point?

I'm tired of having mindless arguments with you.

If I tell you this is how I feel, and you say no, this is not how you feel, you are lying to yourself, and this kind of nonsense, then really, what's the point of conversation since you think you know what is going through my head?

I don't know what you're trying to prove, and at this point, I don't think I care anymore.

Have a good life. Really.

Passport Renewal

Let me tell you what I think Malaysia is freaking good at - getting your passport renewed. I popped by KL for a couple of nights, and went to the Damansara branch at about 9am. There, I took my passport photo (which I sobbed at cos it was so hideous), photostatted a copy of my IC, and queued up for about 2 minutes at my turn at the passport renewal machine.

Updated my details, fed the machine RM300, stuffed everything into an envelope and slotted it through the machine which spat out a receipt saying I should come back in an hour. That took about 10 minutes.

Sped off to Taman Tun for a wanton mee breakfast, headed back to the immigration, took a number at the counter, and 20 minutes later, my new passport was in my hand.

How freaking awesome was that?

Back in Singapore, I thought I would have to go to the ICA to get another re-entry permit stamp on my new passport, but no, the customs officer at the airport stamped it for me and told me to go to the ICA website to update my new passport number.

Super efficient lah nowadays. Gone are the days where I'd have to queue since 7am to get a number just to renew my passport and come back a week later to collect it, followed by a trip to ICA. I love technology!

Roar

Haven't blogged in ages. A lot of stuff has happened... I don't feel like elaborating.

But one thing that stands out in my mind is that if you go on a fucking holiday with a dumbass guy friend, most times they won't think it's just a holiday.

They are bound to try something.

So screw you desperate men out there.

Maybe we're the dumbfucks for thinking otherwise.

Dating at 30

As I tweeted, it's difficult to date at my age, because EVERY MAN past the age of 30 has baggage. Loads of it.

I cannot tell you how many dates I've been on with men only for them to tell me during the first date, sometimes up to the fifth date, that they are divorced/a single parent/have kids/separated/recently out of a long term relationship... etc. Like fuck man, please say from the start can, so I can make my choice early?

And in this day and age, most times, a single woman past 30 is no longer a lonely spinster, but an independent fabulous bachelorette, and a single man past 30 is no longer a swinging bachelor but merely a man with loads of baggage.

Don't ask me how I came to the conclusion, but it's just an observation....

My Horoscope Today

It is possible that you've been so emotional about a certain issue that you've taken it way too far, Scorpio. Fortunately, your reasoning has finally caught up with your feelings. Now it's time for a reckoning. Give your brain a chance to sort things out and bring the situation back into equilibrium. Your first tendency may be to overreact and have things swing in the opposite direction. Do your best to resist this temptation.

My Ass is More High Tech

Fuck you DBS.

Every other month I get locked out of my internet banking account and have to call in only for them to tell me my token is not synced or whatever and they have to reset it for me.

This time they said it's cos I knocked my token around hence it went out of sync. Last time they said it's cos I seldom use it, but I use it every single month to pay rent and bills.

What other stupid excuse will they come up with?

Roar.

Miss those days when the landlord will come to the house to personally collect cash. How were bills paid in the past? Post office ah?
